Couple Conversation Starters

The Click&Drag page from Cosmopolitan magazine has an interesting entry this month, the "Web crawler" column. The author (Sarah Reid) grabbed my attention by mentioning that the most Googled word last month in Phillipines was "emo".
*LOL* definitely makes me happy - cause I felt left out when my brother talked about dressing up as "emo" and I went "what mo?" :) (... that's my contentment of not being the only one who doesn't know...) :P

Nowadays, things move extremely fast around the world. With the new words, current gossips about celebs, actual news about what's going on in the world, the trillions webpages available, new fictions being published everywhere, blogger posts popping every millisecond (I'm assuming here..) and a gazillion more information providers popping up here and there - it's becoming more and more difficult to be in the know of what everyone is talking about.

In that same column, Sarah Reid suggested two weblinks that might help...

• Google International Zeitgeist: the search engine homing pigeon with "The List"; i.e. the most Google-d words from 40 countries


• Buzzfeed: Web crawlies tracking the latest "buzz" from around the globe

I think it's a great principle in doing things with our life.
I'd like to try and live my life that way.

So now, I have a "sticky note" on my iGoogle page - which undoubtedly has become my IE's 'implicit-home-page' at work - that said...

Pixar: 20 Years of Animation - ACMI (Fed Sq)

ACMI (Australian Center for the Moving Image) is currently holding the Pixar: 20 Years of Animation international exhibition.

"Pixar: 20 Years of Animation is the international exhibition that takes you behind the scenes of the studio that created Finding Nemo, Monsters, Inc., Toy Story, Cars and The Incredibles."

"The world's largest exhibition dedicated to the art of animation comes from the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and makes its only Australian appearance at ACMI."

The exhibition was arranged in an excellent way and definitely was more than able to do its job in showing the amount of work and dedication the Pixar team has put into creating their movies (IMDB: Pixar Filmography).

Did you know?
They actually draw the characters, the backgrounds, colour them, before scanning them into computer. There was this amazing short clip of how they create the dining room's lamp for Ratatouille (read: ra-ta-TOO-ee). It shows the whole transformation from sketches -> coloured -> 3D effects -> multiply them and put them in the room.
Also - there was this clip at the Interactive Kiosk on how they test Sulley's (from Monsters Inc) fur movement - which was extremely cool!!!

I can't help but researching them a bit further after visiting the exhibition..

Last day of the Pixar: 20 Years of Animation exhibition is on the 14th October 2007. Do make an effort to check it out if you're in Melbourne. It's definitely worth the 15$ entry fee (Adult); even more so if you're students (10$)!!!
