Charlotte's Web and My Horoscope for Today

Charlotte's Web [2006]
-- Based on the Book by E. B. White

Where should I begin to praise this enchanting movie?

I only watched it today cause my sister suggested it and I thought I don't mind seeing how Dakota acts in it. It turns out to be a very very enjoyable movie to watch. Actually - I'm putting it on the list of my-highly-recommended-movies.. I, for one, wouldn't mind re-watching it..

The story line was simple and pure, yet very sweet.
The barn-talking-animals and the story were made for the kids; but Dakota's act, Wilbur's cute voice, Charlotte's wisdom along with the way the story unfold was well directed to touch the heart of the adults (it definitely touch me!! :P). The sweet magical theme music was a great companion too.

It was lovely to be reminded of how sweet and innocence the mind of a child can be. It also make me very grateful of the miracle of life. To top it off, it reminds me of how wonderful friendship and love can be (not that I haven't been reminded enough with all the extra-ordinary and sweet people I have around me)...

Mmmm... The sweet ol' "What can one do without others?"

I truly believes in the power of friendship and love - they are for sure the essence of life - and I always love to be reminded of it...

Anyway - I don't want to gets ur hopes up too much and ruin the movie for you all.. If you haven't watch it - please do - especially when you feel like winding down with a sweet and lovely movie... It does the job in a brief 1 hour and 53 mins...
Cause I would definitely like to watch it again and experience the nice feelings again... :)

Virgo on 31st July 2007
When it comes to romantic relationships, dear Virgo, you might find that you are playing more of a game of hide-and-go-seek than a combined effort towards friendship, trust, and honesty. It could be that you are purposely trying to hide as well as you can in order to test the true stamina of your opponent. You might want to consider taking a new approach at this time, one that involves an effort towards connection instead of distancing.

Mmmmmmm... Do I really do that? Maybe? :P

Blackle or Google

For those worried with energy consumption and all its downsides, when your screen is white, being it an empty word page, or the Google page, your computer consumes 74 watts, and when its black it consumes only 59 watts.

Mark Ontkush wrote an article about the energy saving that would be achieved if Google had a black screen, taking account of the huge number of page views, according to his calculations, 750 mega watts/hour per year would be saved.

In a response to this article Google created a black version of its search engine, called Blackle, with the exact same functions as the white version, but with lower energy consumption, check it out.

Desperate Housewives - Getting Married Today

From the transcripts provided by Ultimate Desperate Housewives ...

Mike: "Are you sure about this? I don't want you to look back and regret not having your perfect wedding."
Susan: "Well, I don't know if you've noticed, but my idea of the perfect wedding keeps changing. One day, I want white roses, and then I want lilies, and first, I want a harpist, and then a string quartet. Only one thing stays constant... and I'm looking at him. Why would I need anything else to make my wedding perfect?"

Mmmmmm.... :)

HowStuffWorks: "How New York Works: New York City Guide"

How New York Works: New York City Guide - by Christiane Bird

Am I a Drama Queen? How Virgo am I?

Am I a Drama Queen?

You Are a Drama Princess (or Prince)

You're not over the top dramatic, but you have your moments.
You know how to steal the spotlight...
And how to act out to get your way.

People around you know that you're good for a laugh.
But at times, your drama gets a bit too much for everyone.
Tone it down a tad, and you'll still be the center of attention.

Really? I never thought that I am a drama princess... I'd like to think I'm not.. But I guess lately - maybe I am a little. Need to put a break to it!

How Virgo am I? According to Blogthings ...

You are 53% Virgo

and to finish off... some inspiration for myself...

"You have achieved success if you have lived well, laughed often and loved much."

A very enjoyable weekend...

First of all, I'd like to congratulate Margaretha and Sammy for their wedding on the 6th July 2007.
And... to Charley and Diana for their wedding on the 7th July 2007.
It's been a bit like that lately.. People getting married; people having babies... Mmm.. I should rephrase.. It might have always been like that - but lately; the people are my friends... people I know... some of them quite well too... Does that indicate something?

Finally tried Body Attack at Fitness First today - it was A LOT OF FUN!!! Seriously! The first cardio class which I really enjoy.. There was a lot of jumping and running but I really enjoyed it!!! Definitely going back for more... (in hope doing that class together with Body Pump will get me somewhat nearer to healthier body :P)

Chatted with Pipi today too.. somewhere in between all of these activities - couldn't stop laughing from her stupid jokes (As long as it doesn't turn real *touch wood* i'm good) ! :) miss you lots, pi!!!

Met one of my old friend today; Airine. Haven't seen her since last year. It was fun catching up with her for a little bit... She's been studying in London for the past year.. Sounds like she's having lots of fun - travelling a bit around Europe. Have to make sure I get to visit Europe sometime between now and June next year - while accommodation is still free :P Anyway - went browsing around the city - all the clothes are screaming at me saying "Buy me..." with their red tags... So many pretty dresses. Pretty shirts. Pretty tops. It seems to me that everything is on sale.. But, I stayed strong and refused to even try them on! :P HAHAHA.. Have to say I did quite well.

As the reward, I get to go to Karaoke. LOTS OF FUN!!! Lots of singing + Lots of jumping in Body Attack - now I'm fully relaxed and all set to fly away to dream land... :)

I've decided to appreciate myself more. I need to learn to know my own strengths and weaknesses. I need to learn to be less bias. ^.^ I want to start liking myself more :) because that way - it makes it even easier to be happy and stay happy :) and happiness.. is my goal!

Daily Motivator - Friday, July 6, 2007

If, at some point, your day gets pushed in a negative direction, it doesn't have to stay that way. You can quickly and completely recover.

The distractions and disruptions will surely come along. Yet you do not have to let any of them ruin your whole day.

There's never any need to wait until tomorrow to make a fresh start. Instead, you can choose to immediately let go of whatever has thrown you off course.

You can decide to begin moving forward again right away. Keep in mind that the number of times you fall is not nearly as important as how quickly you get back up.

Don't allow an isolated frustration, disappointment or change in plans to turn into a whole day's worth of negative momentum. Instead of feeling sorry for yourself, you can be moving forward.

Recover quickly, get back up and get going again with renewed determination. Nothing will be able to hold you back for long.

Do people just fall out of love?

I don't think so... and iVillage agrees with me :P

Here's what iVillage says ...

People just fall out of love. True or False?
Your Answer: False
Some people believe that they need to divorce their spouses because they've fallen out of love. First of all, people don't just fall out of love. If love dwindles, it's because the marriage wasn't a priority. The number-one cause for the breakdown in marriages in our country is that people don't spend enough time together. They take their spouse and their marriage for granted. Work, kids and other obligations become more important than spending time together. When this happens, during the little time people do spend together, they end up fighting. This distance and alienation sometimes fool people into thinking they've fallen out of love.

Second, love isn't just a feeling. It's a decision. Happily married people understand that if they engage in activities that bring love into the marriage, they will feel loving. There is no major mystery here. You both decide on a daily basis whether you're going to spend time together regularly or do your own thing, forgive each other or hold grudges, accept each other's weaknesses or point fingers of blame, apologize when in error or smugly stand your ground, be generous and giving or put your own needs first.

Of course, we're all human and our ability to be loving and kind to each other ebbs and flows, as do our feelings for our partners. However, wise people don't allow negative feelings or the absence of loving feelings to make them question their commitment to their spouses. They just understand that they're going through a rough time and that soon, they will decide to do what it takes to evoke feelings of love again, in themselves and in their spouses.

iGoogle Quote of the Day - 2nd July 2007

No one means all he says, and yet very few say all they mean,
for words are slippery and thought is viscous.
- Henry Adams

... says iGoogle's Quote of the Day on the 2nd July 2007.

How odd is it that I've been thinking about this a lot lately?

I'm the kind of person who 'sometimes' say things that it's not 100% true.
Let's just say, it's not extremely difficult for me to 'white-lie' a little.
Not that I'm a liar or anything - I normally say things as it is; but with certain people; I have tendency of sugar-coating things.

I have the tendency of saying that I want something when I actually want something else.
Sometimes, I want something but I don't want to have to say that I want that thing just in case I don't get it; or so that, when I get it, I don't feel that I get it because they pity me and gave it to me.
So, instead I'll say that I don't want it; but I actually really wanted it.
But when I say I don't want it; I'm worried that if I say I don't want it; I won't get it...

Also, in terms of using the right word for the right thing..
It has never been a problem to me; until recently...

I've been feeling very strongly about some things; and because I've been throwing away some words that meant to describe these feelings; I don't feel that these words are qualified to express the feelings that I'm having...
I'm having difficulties finding the correct 'word' or 'expression' that could quantify how I feel. Quantify is not the right word either. I mean qualify, maybe? I'm in search for the right word.

Anyway - back to the quote; the question is, how do I know who actually meant what they say?
And, if I think incorrectly of what they meant when they say something; what do they actually meant to say?

Communication can be very tricky sometimes - don't you think?
How I wish all of this can be simplified?
How I wish I could go back to those days when I say what I meant and people just think "oh... she's such a cute blunt and honest kid..." :P
