"eat pray love" by Elizabeth Gilbert

I'm currently reading this book and I'm loving every second of it.
I'm only on page 45 of the 349 page book but I can already see myself reading this over and over and over again.
It is such a well-written honest memoir that found the balance of being a fun read as well as being extremely inspirational.

Thanks to Katherine Heigl for indirectly recommending this book to me. :P
(I read in her interview with a magazine that this is the book she's currently reading - refer this.)
That, plus many reviews, makes this book extremely intriguing to me.
I'm so glad it's totally not what I expected - in a good way.

Find out more about this book here.
I definitely HIGHLY recommend buying a copy! :)

P.S. If traveling is your passion too and you need inspiration, check out Where the Hell is Matt? blog.

Scribd: "Why Intelligent People Tend To Be Unhappy"

Check this out http://www.scribd.com/.

As a test drive, have a skim through this article:
"Why Intelligent People Tend To Be Unhappy".

I don't entirely agree with the content - but some of it makes sense.. :)

Memorable Quote

"I want to marry you because you're the first person I want to see when I wake up and the last person I want to kiss before I go to bed every night.
When I saw this hands I knew that I wanted to hold this hands for the rest of my life.
I want to marry you because if you love someone as much as I love you that is the only thing you can do.
So will you Ummmmm… Marry me?"

Happy "Boris & Mino" Day!

Dedicated to Boris .....

All The Things I Love About You

I love you for the warm, sweet affection
in your eyes
whenever you look at me,
and the special smile
you save only for me.
I love that you always seek
to have your body close to mine,
reaching out to touch,
to hold my hand,
to wrap your arms around me.
I love how you show me you care
by looking for ways
to make my life easier and more comfortable.
I love that when I ask you to do things,
you try to do them
instead of thinking me demanding.
I love that your favorite place is near me,
that you’d rather be with me
than anywhere else.
I love you for more reasons
than this page has space to write,
so I’ll try to tell you and show you in person
all the things I love about you.

Inspirations for the day (22nd Feb 2008)

"Don't cry because it's over.
Smile because it happened."
-- Dr Seuss

It's nearly a week since I came back from my 3-week-long Jakarta-Singapore holiday.
How I wish I could go back to the start of the holiday again.

I'm rather lost in terms of career path since I come back.

Not sure whether I should be looking into a complete change in direction...
"The greatest mistake you can make in life is
to be continually fearing you will make one."
-- Elbert Hubbard

... or trying to somehow get my head adapted and make the best of doing the same thing (which has began to feel very non-inspiring) again.
"Do what you can,
with what you have,
where you are."
-- Theodore Roosevelt

So - who gets it right? Elbert Hubbard? Or Theodore Roosevelt?
Who should I listen to?

Either way, I better decide on something soon.

The Goal

"If you want to be happy,
set a goal that commands your thoughts,
liberates your energy,
and inspires your hopes."
- Andrew Carnegie

*Sigh* What is my version of that goal?

I like ...
- Being busy or "in the moment" (so absorbed into something that I can't think of anything else)
- Learning or experiencing new and interesting things
- Understanding people
- Puzzles
- Talking to people (can't believe I nearly forget to list this...)
- Earning sh*tloads of money (mmm... but then again - who doesn't?)
- Traveling
- Blogging (of course! Why else would I be doing this whenever I feel unmotivated?)
- Photographs (incl. all 3 types of activity; i.e. taking them, being taken in them and simply viewing them!)
- Helping people when I can (the kind of happiness achieved from making others happy normally last the longest :P)
- Social gatherings (strictly with the "right" people only!)
- Putting things (and/or events) together (it's the satisfaction of achieving something that I'm addicted to...)
- Organizing (home, work, clothes, list, etc ) - it's very difficult not to get excited when you see the end result forming...
- Reading (especially chick-lits and intriguing blogs)
- Movies (especially romantic-comedies and meaningful or touching stories)
- Pretty houses (especially the minimalistic ones..)

I dislike ...
- Tedious useless tasks
- Silly work politics
- Being bored sh*tless or unmotivated (which unfortunately is the way I feel at the moment...)

I really really really desperately need to find "The Goal"...

Prom Queen

I've started to read a new fiction book after a long break from them (been reading trashy magazine plus various self help materials).. It's titled "Nearlyweds" written by Beth Kendrick. It has been a very enjoyable read so far (in fact, I'm at the last few chapters in 2 days time). It also has sweet memory cause I bought them at one of the coolest bookstore Kinokuniya in Sydney.
Anyway - as I was reading... this excerpt from the book (page 232 -233 on the first paperback edition November 2006) got me thinking...
"She wants you to notice her."
"I do notice her."
I raised an eyebrow. "What was she wearing at the grocery store yesterday?"
"Give me a break! No guy remembers that kind of stuff!"
"When was the last time you gave her flowers for no reason? When was the last time you cooked dinner for her or wrote her a really gushy love letter?"
"Uh..."
"See? She wants to be treated like the prom queen. Like she's the only woman in the world and you'd rather be single for the rest of your life than date anyone but her."
He mulled this over for a minute. "The thing is, though, she's way better than the prom queen. When we were in high school, Anna Delano was prom queen, and she wasn't half as pretty as Case. She was mean, too, really mean. She and her friends used to corner Casey in the girls' bathroom and -"
"And you dated this chick?"
"When I was seventeen. I didn't know any better."
"Okay, then. You need to show Casey that she's much more important to you than this other hag ever was. Whatever you did to get Anna Delano, you need to do something ten times as spectacular for Casey. She's your wife."
"Not until she marries me again," he said stubbornly.
"Which she's never going to do unless you stop being such an ass and romance the hell out of her."

Now - my thoughts...
"Do all girls need to be treated like prom queen to feel loved?"
"What is the real connection between girls and prom queen treatment?"
"Are we actually wired to feel loved when we are being romanced?"
"Or has these books or movies done a very good job to make us perceived being romanced as being loved?"

Mmm... what is it with me and these questions?

What am I Missing Most Lately?

I'm back at home nowadays. Arrived in Jakarta on the 29th morning. Gosh - I miss the Internet. I miss being able to google something quickly. Or check my bank balances. Or find out about not important things. Blog something stupid. Anything in relation to Internet. Miss it badly!!!
Thankfully - my Internet connection has been OK for the past half an hour - until I start blogging and now it's OFF!!
Bleh! Stupid FASTNet!!!!

My new template look...
